The Washington State Board of Education is currently reviewing high school graduation requirements through the Washington FutureReady State Graduation Requirement Framework, and is developing recommendations for consideration by the Washington State Legislature.
The FutureReady work is focused on ensuring graduation requirements prepare students for college, careers, and life after high school, while creating opportunities for students to pursue pathways aligned with their interests, strengths, and future goals.
For Pullman students, this conversation is particularly timely. Under the current proposed timeline, many of the changes would first apply to students entering ninth grade in fall 2028. Final requirements and implementation timelines will depend on state legislative and rulemaking processes.
